The Power of Positivity: Why a Positive Perspective is Your Greatest Attribute
Updated: Apr 17, 2024
A positive perspective is your greatest attribute because it allows you to focus on the greater picture of life. However, our own experiences, biases, hopes, and fears can often cloud our judgment when it comes to seeing people and circumstances clearly. Biblically speaking, we should seek the greatest good in others. As stated in Philippians 2:3-4 ,"Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather in humility value others above yourselves. Not looking to your interest, but also for the interest of others."
How does it look to esteem others over ourselves? Imagine seeing their highest potential above your earthly thoughts of them. Go beyond seeking the good in them; seek the God in them. I know that is difficult; we are talking about people of this earth, who are innately prone to sin. Despite the challenges of this task, we have to, with the greatness in us, seek the best versions of others like we tend to do for ourselves.
It takes courage to set a Godly example of love; however, it is a compelling way to bring others to Christ. Can you remove your lens and see people and circumstances through Christ's lens? As Romans 5:8 reminds us that God demonstrated his love for us, in that while we were still sinners, he sacrificed his only begotten son. Therefore, we must be willing to let go of our biases and fears (what do you need to let die?) so that we and others may experience life through Christ.
